DSC to consolidate Wal-Mart Remix program

Jan 1, 2006 12:00 PM

DSC Logistics has been selected by Wal-Mart Stores Inc to provide consolidation logistics services for its Remix program.

Wal-Mart's Remix program is designed to improve store efficiency, and as a result suppliers will receive smaller, more frequent orders. For many vendors this will shift their delivery mode from truckload to less-than truckload (LTL). After testing Remix in Florida, Wal-Mart experienced a reduction in stock-outs, improved store efficiency, and increased sales, encouraging the retailer to roll out the program nationwide. DSC will assist Wal-Mart's suppliers to improve service and lower their supply chain costs by providing truckload delivery efficiencies for LTL suppliers.

DSC's consolidation program, called MOST (Multi-Vendor Optimization Strategy), allows participating suppliers to maintain product inventory at any, or all, of the five MOST consolidation centers in Dallas TX, Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, Los Angeles CA, and Allentown PA. DSC consolidates the orders from multiple Wal-Mart vendors and delivers full truckloads to each of Wal-Mart's 39 regional remix distribution centers, avoiding the inefficiencies of LTL deliveries while benefiting from less-expensive truckload service.
