Fleet tracking aimed at smaller operations

Jun 1, 2004 12:00 PM, [Compiled by Gary Macklin • gmacklin@primediabusiness.com]

Burdilla Lanser Technologies LLC has a new product to help small- and medium-size businesses access fleet management tracking services. The owner-controlled product combines the technology of InfoTrack with Burdilla Lanser's integration technology.

InfoTrack uses GPS and GSM cell phone technology to pinpoint the location of a vehicle right down to street level. Advanced journey and history reporting provides the fleet manager with detailed vehicle or fleet data.

In addition, Burdilla Lanser offers TrakWhere, a tracking system that uses a battery-operated GPS transmitter to let fleet managers know where their assets are at regular intervals. This system has up to a seven-year battery life.

TrakWhere uses Globalstar satellites, which relay location information to fleet managers, who can view detailed mapping information on their own PCs. The system can provide location updates at pre-determined intervals as well as up to four alarms that can report conditions such as an open door, a temperature drop or rise, or vehicle motion.
