Manufacturers intend that their web sites promote their products. To accomplish that goal more fully, Volvo Trucks North America has recently redesigned its site to allow users to get details about the Volvo product line, find dealers, find used trucks, and get information about financing or leasing vehicles. In addition, visitors to the new site can enroll for technician training or download service manuals. The site also offers a wide range of accessories to users who want to customize their trucks.
Volvo says it want the site to be the first place users go for information about the product line. In addition to details about the features of Volvo's products, the VN highway tractor line, the VHD vocational trucks, and the VED12 series of engines, the site has links to service and user support functions. For instance, users can download complete versions of Volvo owner's manuals and maintenance manuals for trucks and engines as well as information and manuals on Volvo's VCADS electronic diagnostics systems. These manuals can be supplements with complete accessory and parts catalogs. To help equip trucks properly, the site has an online bodybuilder's manual. A schedule of training courses is available as well.
Beyond the availability of technical tools, the new Volvo site provides customers with a Business Tools section with advice on how to run a business more effectively. These tools include 24-hour service support and product training. Volvo also offers Volvo Link, an integrated satellite communications system at what it calls an affordable cost.
For users in the market for used trucks, the site provides details on vehicles available from Volvo dealers or from Arrow Truck Sales, Volvo's nationwide network for used truck sales. The sales section provides information on financing from Volvo Commercial Finance or leasing from Volvo Truck Leasing. Insurance information is available as well.
The Volvo site has a new section called the Loading Ramp that allows visitors access to free images of Volvo trucks and engines. These downloads can be used to generate wallpaper or can be loaded into computers as screensavers. The Loading Ramp section also offers official Volvo merchandise for sale.
