AmeriCold, IBA to Build Irradiation Facility

Mar 1, 2001 12:00 PM, Refrigerated Transporter Staff

AmeriCold Logistics has partnered with IBA to construct an X-ray food irradiation facility at AmeriCold's site in Carthage MO. The firm also will provide storage and distribution services for frozen, refrigerated, or dry foods of both AmeriCold and IBA customers.

The facility in Carthage already serves many producers of perishable foods that could benefit from irradiation. IBA will lease space from AmeriCold to construct the new X-ray processing center, scheduled to open in mid-2002. This facility is expected to be the first of several AmeriCold locations that will offer advanced IBA X-ray food irradiation processing.
