Foodservice marketer and distributor SYSCO Corp has completed the acquisition of Abbott Foods Inc, a broadline foodservice distributor based in Columbus OH. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Abbott, which was Ohio's largest privately owned foodservice distributor, generated sales of about $220 million in 2001. The company employs more than 450 associates and operates from a 287,000-square-foot warehouse, providing some 10,000 products to 7,800 customers in Ohio and surrounding states.

Larry C Abbott will remain president and chief executive officer of Abbott SYSCO Food Services.
