Sysco Corp has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Asian Foods Inc, North America's largest Asian foodservice distribution company.

Founded in 1985, Asian Foods operates from two locations, St Paul MN and Kansas City MO. Through its fleet of 42 delivery vehicles and employee base of 261 associates, the company supplies about 2,000 products to 1,800 customers in 14 states, including its exclusive distribution of the Ji Hao — which translates to “Best of the Best” — brand. Asian Foods has generated sales in excess of $100 million for the year ended Oct 31, 2002.

Frank J Hamel will continue as president and chief executive officer of Asian Foods.
