Sysco thinks green in expansion of its HQ

Mar 1, 2005 12:00 PM

The board of directors of Houston TX-based foodservice marketer and distributor Sysco Corp has approved the construction of two new office buildings and an extensive renovation of the company's corporate office in west Houston.

This project is scheduled to break ground in autumn 2004 with phased occupancy into the first new building expected to occur in 2006. The second new building and the renovated third building will be occupied during 2007.

Sysco has challenged the project team to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council. This is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
