BNSF Logistics acquires Sumark Services

BNSF Logistics LLC has acquired Sumark Services, a Versailles OH-based third-party logistics (3PL) company that provides multi-modal transportation execution nationwide. Sumark has 54 employees and had gross revenues of $40 million in 2003. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The newly acquired operations are being added to BNSF Logistics’ Transportation Execution Services (TES) product line. Services provided will include refrigerated, intermodal, and less-than-truckload. Chuck Borchers, owner of Sumark since 1987, has been appointed director of TES-East for BNSF Logistics, based in Versailles.

BNSF Logistics is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp (BNSF).
