Soy in frozen Danish dough triggers recall

Feb 23, 2006 9:42 AM, from staff and wire reports

Best Brands Corp has recalled 2,000 to 5,000 cases of its Twisted Snails Frozen Danish Dough because they contain undeclared soy. Though no reports of illness have occurred, persons allergic or severely sensitive to soy are in danger of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

The frozen dough was distributed in Missouri, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. It was delivered to retail and grocery store bakeries as well as other foodservice outlets.

These Danish twists might have been sold from trays or in individual packages with grocery store labels. The consumer package would not contain the name “Best Brands” or “Twisted Snails Frozen Danish Dough.”
