C R England acquires Carson Transport

Jul 5, 2005 10:52 AM, from staff and wire reports

C R England Inc, an 85-year-old refrigerated trucking company, recently strengthened its Logistics Divisions by acquiring Carson Transport Inc, a third-party logistics company specializing in refrigerated less-than-truckload (LTL) service for perishable food manufacturers.

“This is an ideal company to help us launch our LTL service,” said Sean Snow, C R England's vice-president of England Logistics. “Carson’s top-notch people, strong carrier relationships, and a solid customer base are core strengths we looked for in a company.”

While Salt Lake City UT-based C R England is one of North America’s largest refrigerated carriers, it previously did not offer shipping for partial loads. Now the company will offer coast-to-coast delivery of refrigerated LTL loads within five business days.

C R England acquired Northern California-based Carson Transport’s ongoing operations and selected assets, though terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Originally founded by William Schuman, Carson Transport has successfully operated for more than five years in the refrigerated load consolidation business.
