Cal-Maine now sole owner of Green Forest

Cal-Maine Foods Inc has signed an agreement to buy the 50 percent interest in Green Forest Foods LLC owned by Pier 44 Properties LLC. Green Forest Foods, based in Green Forest AR, has been jointly owned and operated by Pier 44 Properties and Cal-Maine Foods since January 2006. Effective Jan 27, 2007, Cal-Maine Foods will become the sole owner and operator of Green Forest Foods.
Green Forest Foods produces and markets eggs from about one million laying hens, along with pullet growing for replacements. The eggs are marketed to retail food stores and foodservice distributors in the south central United States.
Based in Jackson MS, Cal-Maine Foods is the largest producer and distributor of fresh shell eggs in the United States.
