Coca-Cola Enterprises meets challenges

Nov 1, 2004 11:18 AM, from staff and wire reports

Coca-Cola Enterprises has tallied third-quarter 2004 net income of $207 million and year-to-date net income of $514 million. Operating income for the third quarter totaled $449 million, down 14% versus the year before. Year-to-date operating income was $1.204 billion, a 2% drop for the first nine months.

“We faced challenging business conditions during the quarter in both North America and Europe, including a combination of a soft retail environment; cool, wet weather; and a continuing decline in regular soft drinks,” said John R Alm, president and chief executive officer. “Despite these conditions, we achieved our pricing goals, and our diet portfolio continued its strong growth.”
