Costco Wholesale stacks up fiscal gains

Costco Wholesale Corp reported net sales of $3.65 billion for the four weeks ended Aug 29, 2004, a 7% increase from $3.42 billion in the same four-week period of the prior fiscal year.
For the 16-week fiscal fourth quarter ended Aug 29, 2004, the company tallied net sales of $14.84 billion, an 11% gain from $13.42 billion during 2003's fiscal fourth quarter. In the fiscal year ended Aug 29, 2004, Costco had net sales of $47.15 billion, or 13% more than the $41.69 billion during the previous fiscal year.
Costco operates 441 warehouses, including 327 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 63 in Canada, 15 in the United Kingdom, five in Korea, three in Taiwan, four in Japan, and 24 in Mexico. It plans to open another 12 to 13 new warehouses before the end of calendar year 2004.
