FKI Logistex has signed a multi-million-dollar contract with Gordon Food Service for an automated, high-speed conveying and sorting system at the company’s new warehouse in Shepherdsville KY.

Gordon Food Service, based in Grand Rapids MI, distributes food and food-related items to more than 45,000 customers, including restaurants, cruise ships, hotels, hospitals and schools. Its distribution centers include cold storage space for produce and other items, space for frozen food storage, and ambient space for room-temperature storage.

Installation of the FKI Logistex system in the Shepherdsville distribution center begins in early 2005 and will be commissioned by early 2006. FKI Logistex will supply more than 50,000 feet of powered conveyor, predominantly belt conveyor, in addition to two UniSort XV high-speed sorters.
