Apr 14, 2005 9:20 AM, from staff and wire reports
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced it has terminated the collection and dissemination of motor carrier financial and operating statistics.
This program was designed to collect annual and quarterly data from motor carriers, including balance sheet and income statement data along with information on tonnage, mileage, employees, transportation equipment, and other related items.
The publicly available information was intended to be used by the United States Department of Transportation, other government agencies, trucking associations, insurance companies, consultants, law firms, academia, and trade publications. However, penalties for not submitting the data had not been enforced.
