Frozen ground beef patty recall expanded

Sep 29, 2005 10:00 AM, from staff and wire reports

Flanders Provision Co has expanded its voluntary recall to include about 184,000 pounds of ground beef produced June 25, 2005. This expands the Waycross GA-based company’s August voluntary recall of some 900,000 pounds of ground beef produced from Feb 21, 2005, to March 10, 2005.

Health officials are urging consumers to check their freezers for more recalled ground beef patties that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

The latest recall affects frozen beef patties bearing the Flanders and Saver’s Choice labels that were distributed to retail locations across the nation. This recall applies only to frozen beef patties commercially packaged for retail purchase in 2- and 5-pound packages of pre-formed patties.

All of the packages affected by the September recall contain the production code “05176” and also bear the establishment number “EST. 9145” inside the United States Department of Agriculture mark of inspection.
