Giant/Stop & Shop integration continues

The next phase of the integration of Ahold USA's Giant of Landover and Stop & Shop store headquarters operations has been announced.
Several Giant Landover administrative functions will be combined with Stop & Shop operations to reduce administrative costs and enable greater investment at the store level.
As a result, about 650 Giant Landover employees could be impacted. The company is working to identify other employment opportunities throughout the combined organization for affected workers, and has begun offering new positions with Stop & Shop's operations in Quincy MA.
For those eligible associates who are unable to remain with the company, Giant will provide a support package including severance benefits and outplacement assistance.
Giant Food LLC, headquartered in Landover MD, operates 199 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, and employs more than 25,000 associates.
The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co, based in Quincy, employs more than 57,000 associates and operates 339 stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
