In response to the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina recently, Great Dane Trailers has provided the use of refrigerated trailers over an extended period to the American Red Cross for its emergency response efforts.
Originating in Dallas TX, the trailers will be delivered to locations including Baton Rouge LA, Lafayette LA, and Mobile AL, where the Red Cross has set up local food and supply distribution hubs for storm-ravaged areas.
Besides the reefer trailers valued at about $250,000, Great Dane has also begun a corporate donation program to aid those affected by Katrina. Employees at nine production facilities and 25 branch locations nationwide will participate in the fund-raising efforts for the American Red Cross to benefit storm survivors.
Great Dane’s full-service branch in Mobile sustained some damage from Katrina, but it is operational.
