Food distributor Jim Cody Inc calls it quits

Jim Cody Inc, a Tampa FL-area food distributor and one of the leading women-owned businesses in the region, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Since January 24, Nuco Express LLC, which has no affiliation with Jim Cody, has been running a food transportation and storage operation in what had been Jim Cody's 55,000-square-foot Tampa headquarters.

According to bankruptcy court documents filed March 3 in Tampa, Jim Cody has 200-plus creditors, debts estimated at $1 million to $10 million, and assets estimated at $500,001 to $1 million. In 2002, the firm had 140 employees and annual revenue of $96.6 million.
