Allergy alert spurs Kroger ice cream recall

The Kroger Co has recalled two ice cream products from three divisions because the items may contain undeclared peanut material. Customers who are allergic or extremely sensitive to peanuts risk severe or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Recalled products are:

•Half-gallon containers of Country Club vanilla ice cream with a UPC #11110- 51810, and a sell-by date of “JAN 29 05A (Plant 18-1080).” The product was sold only in Michigan.

•Half-gallon containers of Kroger Sugar Free Rocky Road ice cream with a UPC #11110-50533 and sell-by date of “JAN 29 05A (Plant 18-1080).” This product may have been distributed to stores in Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee (except for Nashville and Knoxville metro areas), Mississippi, Arkansas, southwestern and southeastern Kentucky, southeast Missouri, and southeast Ohio.

The products are being removed from store shelves immediately. Customers should return these products to the store for a full refund. Those with questions may phone Kroger toll-free at 800-632-6900.
