Landstar System Inc reported a 30% increase in revenue to a record $527 million in the 2004 third quarter, up from $407 million in the 2003 third quarter. Net income for the 2004 third quarter was a record $21.6 million, compared with net income of $11.8 million for the 2003 third quarter.

The Jacksonville FL-based firm’s carrier group of companies generated $369 million of revenue in the 2004 third quarter, versus revenue of $308 million in the 2003 third quarter.

Net income for the 39-week period ended Sept 25, 2004, was $47.3 million, in contrast to net income of $35.6 million for the comparable 2003 period.

Revenue was $1.430 billion in the 39-week period of 2004, compared with revenue of $1.163 billion in the same 2003 period. Landstar’s carrier group of companies tallied $1.054 billion of revenue in the 39-week period of 2004, versus $901 million in the same period in 2003.
