PFG net sales, earnings move up in 3Q

Performance Food Group (PFG) announced results for the third quarter and nine months ended Sept 30, 2006.
Consolidated net sales from continuing operations in the third quarter were approximately $1.4 billion, an increase of about 2% compared with the prior-year quarter. Net earnings from continuing operations in the third quarter rose to around $12.2 million, an increase of roughly 2% versus about $11.9 million in the same quarter the previous year.
For the first nine months of 2006, consolidated net sales from continuing operations totaled about $4.3 billion, a gain of approximately 2% from the prior-year period. Net earnings from continuing operations for the first nine months climbed about 4% to around $30.0 million, in contrast to roughly $28.8 million in the prior-year period.
