Steakburger patties feed the needy

Nov 7, 2006 8:54 AM, from staff and wire reports

The Steak n Shake Co is partnering for the fourth year with the America’s Second Harvest network of food banks to deliver Steakburger patties to the hungry this holiday season.

For every $5 in Takhomacard gift cards purchased at one of its 469 company-owned and franchised restaurants, Steak n Shake will donate one Steakburger patty to one of the more than 70 America’s Second Harvest food banks. The program runs through Dec 25, 2006.

Deliveries of the Steakburger patties will be made in first quarter 2007.

In 2005, more than 1 million Steakburger patties were delivered to food banks, with 75 percent of the donations going to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Peter Dunn, president and chief executive officer of Steak n Shake, said, "We will give away the two-millionth Steakburger patty during the 2006 America’s Second Harvest campaign.”
