SunOpta purchases Cleugh's Frozen Foods

SunOpta Inc has completed the acquisition of the outstanding shares of Cleugh’s Frozen Foods Inc of Buena Park CA. The undisclosed purchase price includes cash and assumption of debt.

A third-generation family business, Cleugh's has annual revenues of more than $50 million. It processes natural and organic frozen fruits and vegetables for retail private label, foodservice, and industrial markets. Cleugh’s operates two processing facilities in Buena Park and Salinas CA, with combined production, packaging, and warehousing space of about 60,000 square feet. The operations have extensive capabilities including IQF (individually quick frozen) processing, blending, and puree production.

Cleugh’s processing and packaging capabilities will enable Canada-based SunOpta to service customers from SunOpta-owned production facilities.
