Sysco expands its presence in California

Sysco Corp, the Houston TX-based foodservice marketer and distributor, has acquired Facciola Meat Co, a specialty meat and seafood distributor based in Fremont CA. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1971, Facciola has become the largest independent distributor in Northern California. The company is a Certified Angus Beef distributor, employing 131 associates at its 108,000-square-foot warehouse and processing facility. Facciola provides fresh fish, poultry, and other frozen and refrigerated food products to restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice operations in Northern California, Hawaii, and Nevada. In 2004, the firm generated about $82 million in sales.
