Wal-Mart Seafood vice-president and representatives of Penguin Frozen Foods, Wild American Shrimp Inc, and Texas Shrimp associations.

Upon the deck of the Alma Marie shrimp boat, Wal-Mart announced it will supply its customers with wild-caught domestic shrimp supplied by Penguin Frozen Foods, one of the nation’s largest suppliers of certified Wild American Shrimp.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the absolute highest-quality products and, if possible, from local US suppliers,” said Peter Redmond, Wal-Mart’s vice-president of seafood for North America. “What’s more, this partnership also helps to sustain an important industry and traditional way of life in our country.”

Participating Wal-Mart stores in nearly 900 locations will carry the Penguin fresh-frozen domestic shrimp in its full-service areas. Penguin-certified Wild American Shrimp will be available to customers in time for Thanksgiving and the holiday season, with most locations already stocking product.

Wild American Shrimp Inc devotes its resources to raising public awareness about the nutritional and economic benefits of domestic, wild-caught shrimp. It supports the shrimp industry of eight Gulf Coast and South Atlantic states.
