Whole Foods posts healthy fiscal figures

Whole Foods Market Inc has reported sales and earnings for the second quarter ended April 11, 2004. The Austin TX-based natural and organic supermarket chain’s sales for the 12-week quarter climbed 24% to $902 million from $725 million the year before.
Net income for the quarter surged 38% to $35.3 million, or 3.9% of sales, from $25.6 million, or 3.5% of sales, in the prior year.
