Canadian Freight Index climbs in August

TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index in August 2011 was up 10% from July 2011 and had a 12% increase year-over-year. August’s freight volumes were the highest for same month over the past five years.

Equipment postings in August reached the highest levels for 2011, with capacity up more than 11% from July’s total. Capacity was 3% above recorded levels for August 2010. The equipment-to-loads ratio remained virtually unchanged from the level established in July.
