DriverNet Files For Bankruptcy

DriverNet, the provider of driver workstation kiosks at 440 truck stops, has filed for bankruptcy and laid off most of its staff, according to the Kansas City Star. According to the report, DriverNet laid off 55 employees Tuesday and filed for bankruptcy Wednesday.The Kansas City, Mo.-based company, which has 350,000 users, said it hopes to find a buyer to continue maintaining the workstations. DriverNet's kiosks are used by drivers for several tasks, including to check e-mail, seek loads and send faxes.
The company's website is still active, and company president and CEO David Buckley said everything will run as normal until a buyer is found.
