Flint River Foods acquires Birds Eye facility

Oct 1, 2003 12:00 PM, from staff and wire reports

Flint River Foods LLC has acquired a facility in Montezuma GA from Birds Eye Foods Inc, a manufacturer and marketer of frozen vegetables and processor of other food products. The transaction also includes a provision for Flint River to continue using Pro-Fac growers who have been providing raw product to Birds Eye Foods for its McKenzie's brand and to contract-pack those products for Birds Eye.

A joint venture between New Era Canning Co and Glory Development LLC, Flint River will be managed by Rick Ray, president and chief executive officer of New Era Canning.

Through Flint River, New Era now can meet its private label retail and foodservice customers needs for Southern vegetables. Flint River will also serve as a Southern distribution center for New Era.

Glory Foods Inc markets a line of seasoned Southern-style frozen and canned, as well as fresh-bagged, vegetable products to retail and foodservice customers.
