Paccar increasing Peterbilt build rates

Jul 6, 2001 12:00 PM, Tim Parry, web editor

Paccar Inc. will increase the Class 8 truck production build rate of its Peterbilt Motor Co. division by 8% starting July 16. The company will also increase the build rate of Class 6&7 trucks anufactured at its Ste. Therese, Quebec, facility by 22%, effective August 6. “The build rate increases reflect increasing customer demand for our products,” said Paccar chairman & CEO Mark Pigott. “(Kenworth and) Peterbilt Class 8 trucks continue to have the highest resale values in North America, which is especially important to our customers during the industry slowdown.”

Pigott added that Paccar is positioned strongly for further growth when the North American truck market returns to normal sales levels.
