Reopened food plant brings yuletide cheer

Macon County community leaders, politicians, plant workers, and community members joined in celebration of the reopening of a processing plant in Montezuma GA. The plant is now known as Flint River Foods LLC. Formerly owned by Birds Eye Foods Inc, it closed in 2002 and was reopened by joint venture partners, Glory Development LLC and New Era Canning.

Montezuma has been designated as one of the poorest communities in Macon County.

Flint River Foods will produce Glory Foods brand greens and other leafy vegetables. Glory Foods markets seasoned Southern-style frozen, fresh-cut, and canned vegetable products to both retail and foodservice customers. Its products are offered in 38 states in more than 14,000 retail outlets.
