Sysco to build distribution center in Idaho

Nov 19, 2003 12:00 PM, from staff and wire reports

Sysco Corp, the Houston TX-based foodservice distributor, has signed a contract to purchase land on Beck Road in Post Falls ID upon which it will construct a broadline distribution fold-out facility. Terms of the purchase, which is subject to completion of SyscoÕs due diligence, were not disclosed.

This new company is expected to be operational by 2005. The building will contain about 140,000 square feet of office space; docking area; and freezer, cooler, and dry storage space.

Richard J Schnieders, Sysco chairman and chief executive officer, said, ÒThis new facility, which is our 14th announced broadline fold-out since fiscal 1995, will result in more localized service for our customers in and around the growing markets of Spokane and Yakima WA, as well as foodservice operators in northern Idaho. Our companies in Portland, Seattle, and Boise will all benefit from expanded capacity for their core market customers and expense reductions in their distribution costs.Ó
