FLEXIBLE COLD STORAGE: Newport-St Paul Cold Storage near St Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota, has some 4 million cubic feet of flexible cold storage space. Rather than operating a fleet, it uses refrigerated and frozen carriers to handle less-than-truckload anNewport Cold Storage is located at 2233 Maxwell Avenue, Newport, MN 55055 and can be reached at (651) 459-5555.To improve efficiency, the company installed an Accellos warehouse management system and integrated Psion Teklogix frost-free mobile computers for easier wireless data collection and management.
To help reduce electricity bills, Newport-St Paul Cold Storage uses a Hench Energy Management System with computer-based controllers and systems to monitor and control power use.Storage configuration includes various pallet heights and rack densities, and push-back rack systems. High-efficiency lighting and motion sensor lights are used throughout the facility.Included within its 2.3 million cubic feet of freezer storage are facilities for both blast and sharp freezing.
A third-generation family business, Newport-St Paul Cold Storage has grown by taking advantage of technology and investing in people, says company president Andrew Greenberg.
