Company provides DPFs
for TRU, APU diesel engines

Emission Reduction Systems Inc (ERS) is a California-based company that represents Rypos and Proventia diesel particulate filters (DPFs). These two manufacturers are primary suppliers of DPFs for the US transport refrigeration unit (TRU) and auxiliary power unit (APU) diesel engine market. ERS provides DPFs verified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as Level II devices that fit most Thermo King and Carrier trailer-mounted TRUs from 1985-2002 model years with Isuzu, Yanmar, or Kubota diesel engines.
According to ERS, its DPFs will make TRUs compliant with CARB—in most cases—at a lower cost than a TRU engine repower. If larger quantities are ordered, the cost can be reduced even further. The firm also has a verified CARB-compliant DPF available for 1987-2002 Thermo King bobtail/truck mounted TRUs only.
Installation time for a DPF is approximately two to three hours, and installation includes a back pressure monitor. A shop or most any repair facility can install this device easily without any complications. The DPF will not change or affect engine performance, and it will not reduce fuel economy. A partial flow-through filter, the DPF replaces the current muffler and also acts as a sound attenuator, so the old muffler is not reinstalled. All of ERS’s kit except one install and mount completely inside the TRU cowling. Think of this device as a sophisticated muffler that also cleans the exhaust.
