Dot Transportation Inc (DTI) presented transport refrigeration system manufacturer Thermo King and dealer Capital City Thermo King its 2011 Vendor of the Year Award at its 2012 vendor golf outing at Rolling Greens Golf Course in Mount Sterling IL.

This is the third time the Thermo King duo has been awarded the Vendor of the Year award from DTI over the past 12 years. The award honors product quality and reliability, ability to process large quantities of equipment, low maintenance and repair expenses, and strong knowledge of DTI operations to provide solutions and make improvements.

Thermo King continues to be one of our most reliable and efficient vendors,” said Kevin Buss, director of fleet maintenance at DTI. “Any time we need service support, they’re right on top of things.”

DTI determines the winner through a variety of metrics and a scorecard system that rates vendors 1-5 in areas such as products, service, and reliability. Results are tracked from year-to-year and used with other variables to determine the Vendor of the Year.

“I’d say it’s about 98% of the decision,” said Buss regarding how the scorecard system factors in the award.

DTI’s golf outing consists of about 30 vendors who are invited each year for lunch, a business update, awards presentation, a day of golfing with a three-hole scramble, and dinner.

“We appreciate Dot inviting us to this event, and it makes it even sweeter when we’re able to bring home this award,” said Rick McClurg, national account manager at Thermo King. “Making our customers happy is something that we take a lot of pride in, and Dot is one of our biggest customers.”
