Agricola El Rosal using AiroCide
technology at its Texas facility

Aug 23, 2012 7:00 AM

KES Science & Technology Inc, a global provider and innovator of postharvest preservation technology, announced that Agricola El Rosal will include the NASA-developed AiroCide food safety preventive-controls air sanitation technology in its Texas facility.

Because airborne cross-contamination poses a threat to food safety, the chemical-free AiroCide system provides added protection to enhance quality assurance. It kills airborne mold, fungi, bacteria, and viruses, and it removes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including ethylene gas.

El Rosal was founded in 2001 as part of the agriculture business division of Grupo KASTO and Grupo Salvi. One of the largest high-tech greenhouse growers in Mexico, El Rosal has state-of-the-art facilities delivering greenhouse-grown produce that is hand-picked, hand-stickered, and hand-inspected before leaving each site.

The Food Safety Modernization Act enables the US Food and Drug Administration to better protect public health by strengthening the food safety system. The focus is now more on preventing food safety problems rather than relying primarily on reacting to problems after they occur.
