Exel orders ReeferTrak systems for fleet

Dec 1, 2008 12:00 PM

Alanco Technologies' StarTrak Systems subsidiary has received an order from Exel Transportation Services valued at more than $750,000 for ReeferTrak system hardware and five years of data subscription services.

These two-way command and control monitoring systems will be installed on Exel's 500-unit fleet of refrigerated intermodal trailers.

The ReeferTrak monitoring system is effective for Exel's operations as its entire refrigerated trailer fleet is mainly transported by intermodal railcar and without company drivers. ReeferTrak's geofencing capability automatically records the time and place that responsibility for the trailer changes hands during a shipment. Exel can thus remotely monitor individual performance of each rail carrier, determine fuel use by carrier, and manage shipment quality.

Exel provides contract logistics, supplying customer-focused systems to retail, consumer, technology, automotive, life sciences, chemical, and industrial applications.
