Ozone technology for containers, railcars

Sep 1, 2008 12:00 PM

Purfresh has developed an informatics system to complement its chemical-free, ozone generator technologies for refrigerated international shipping containers. It is working to extend the technology to domestic refrigerated containers and railcars.

The FDA-, EPA- and USDA-certified ozone technology is currently employed in processing, cold storage, and transport applications to kill food-borne pathogens and eliminate ripening using targeted doses of ozone gas.

The informatics system, known as Intellipur, is an integrated web-based software solution that allows storage and transport managers to remotely monitor and control containers protected with Purfresh ozone systems.

The software helps ensure food safety and quality by providing immediate feedback at every step in the increasingly global supply chain, said Purfresh officials.
