Sep 7, 2007 8:26 AM

Food Bank for New York City has acquired FoodChange Inc. The transaction will enable the Food Bank to work more effectively to meet the needs of the more than two million New Yorkers who are struggling to put food on the table and to advance the two groups’ mutual mission to end hunger.

With a 90,000-square-foot warehouse that includes accommodations for perishable products, Food Bank for New York City provides emergency food and education to its network of more than 1,000 member organizations. FoodChange programs promote access to nutritious food and government nutrition and income support programs.

Dr Lucy Cabrera will be president and chief executive officer of both organizations.
