Texas smokehouse opens new freezer

Apr 1, 2009 12:00 PM

The New Braunfels (TX) Smokehouse announces the opening of a new state-of-the-art freezer with the capacity to store 1,200 pallets of commercial frozen product from January to June each year.

This smokehouse operated a public freezer 60 years ago for its neighbors to store venison, turkeys, or hams from farms in Comal County, Texas. The food locker closed when the smokehouse needed space to expand its meat processing and shipping operations.

“It's a little bit of déjà vu for the company,” said Mike Dietert, vice president and general manager. “However, this time around we're providing freezer storage space for commercial businesses. The new freezer will store products at 0 degrees. We can provide storage for producers of most any kind of perishable products. We are located a few blocks off Interstate 35 between San Antonio and Austin. We have a large concrete parking lot with ample dock space for fast loading and unloading of trucks. Our facility is ideal for any food processor in need of freezer storage in the area.”

The New Braunfels Smokehouse is a member of the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses and the Southwest Meat Association. For more information on commercial freezer storage, contact Mike Dietert, 830-625-7316.
