AmeriCold opens 2nd Charlotte NC facility

Jan 1, 2007 12:00 PM

AmeriCold announces the grand opening of its second Charlotte NC facility. This plant is at 2401 Nevada Boulevard in a former Winn-Dixie distribution center.

Atlanta GA-based AmeriCold has invested close to $4 million in this 400,000 square-foot facility, which has more than 6.6 million cubic feet of freezer capacity (equating to 20,250 pallet positions) and 4.5 million-plus cubic feet of cooler space (9,500 pallet positions). The Schwan Food Co is among the customers using this logistics hub.

The addition of a second facility in the Charlotte market reflects a growing trend for the need for frozen and perishable food storage in the Southeast.

AmeriCold's existing Charlotte-North warehouse at 1000 Exchange Street will continue to provide support for rail-served public storage, blast freezing, and distribution-related services.
