Arctic almost doubles size of warehouse

May 1, 2006 12:00 PM

Arctic Cold Storage has completed construction of an addition that nearly doubles the size of its St Cloud MN facility. This addition represents about 80,000 square feet/2,400,000 cubic feet in the one-story controlled-temperature facility, with all the new space devoted to servicing Hormel Foods subsidiary Jennie-O Turkey Store. About 20 more personnel have been assigned to the Jennie-O business.

The company, which installed Headwater Technology Solutions' SmartEnterprise third-party logistics (3PL) software suite in 2005, also has expanded its software system with more user seats, wireless technology capability, and implementation of untended computer-to-computer communications. Users of the SmartEnterprise software have increased from 30 to 40 in total number. Automated RF warehouse communications have been expanded with the tripling of the number of Teklogix RF units to a total of 30.
