USCS to construct
refrigerated warehouse

United States Cold Storage plans to open a refrigerated warehouse in Lebanon IN during summer 2009.

The Cherry Hill NJ-based company will invest $38 million to construct the 300,000-square-foot facility. Management and warehouse employees will begin to be hired in January 2009, with the number of workers totaling 100 by 2012, according to USCS.

Established in 1889, USCS handles more than 6 billion pounds of temperature-sensitive products from domestic and international food companies per year. It has 30 refrigerated warehouses nationwide.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has consented to supply USCS with as much as $1.3 million in performance-based tax credits and infrastructure assistance, along with up to $40,000 in training grants.

According to Indiana state officials, rail access to the site will be provided via a partnership between Lebanon and Duke Realty Corp.
